Our Commitment

The composition of our product ranges follows documented quality and social standards throughout the supply chain – from our collaboration with suppliers to our internal quality management.

We are audited annually by LC Agricultural Consulting GmbH, are certified to the IFS Broker standard, and our warehouse operates in accordance with HACCP guidelines. Since 2026, we have also been assessed annually by EcoVadis. We currently achieve a score of 61 out of 100 points. The assessment covers environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement and is based on an industry-specific questionnaire and supporting evidence such as policies and certificates.

We aim to be a partner for our customers that plans for the long term and acts with foresight. This includes long-term supplier relationships, a growing share of certified organic products and the continuous development of our production and packaging processes.

Certified Organic Tea Products

More than two-thirds of the tea products we offer come from certified producers who practice controlled organic farming.

As of September 2026, 200 of approximately 280 tea products across our ranges come from certified organic farming.

Our organic products bear the EU organic logo. Compliance with the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation is a prerequisite for a product to be labelled as organic. We are happy to provide our organic certificate upon request.

Working with Our Suppliers

We value long-term partnerships with selected tea gardens. The annual quantities we communicate provide our partners at origin with a basis for their planning.

The Code of Conduct of the German Tea Association is signed by our suppliers and is therefore contractually binding. Compliance is based on our suppliers' commitment and on self-disclosure as part of our supplier evaluation process. If there are specific indications of a violation, we reserve the right to review or terminate the business relationship.

Among other requirements, the Code of Conduct prohibits child and forced labour and sets requirements for safe and healthy working conditions. Minimum requirements include access to clean drinking water, adequate sanitary facilities and medical care.

Packaging

Packaging performs important functions for tea. It protects our products from moisture, unwanted aromas and contaminants, thereby contributing to product quality, food safety and shelf life.

When selecting and developing our packaging, we consider the necessary level of product protection as well as criteria including the amount of material used, recycled content, recyclability and compostability.

Different packaging materials are used depending on the product. These include, for example, FSC-certified virgin-fibre cardboard, shipping cartons made from recycled cardboard and paper-based sachet envelopes with a thin barrier layer. For selected products, we also use industrially compostable bags made from PLA, cotton or organic cotton, and paper.

As actual disposal options may vary depending on local waste management systems, we provide specific disposal instructions for our different types of packaging.

Measures at Our Site

We also implement a number of specific measures in our own operations. These include expanding our electric vehicle fleet and providing charging facilities at our warehouse location. In addition, our employees have the opportunity to lease JobRad® bicycles.

Our headquarters in Bremen is connected to public transport and can be reached by bicycle. Almost 50% of our employees regularly use public transport or bicycles to commute to work.

For our shipping cartons, we have switched to brown, directly printable outer cartons. This eliminates the need for the colour used for white cartons as well as an additional paper label including ink, adhesive and solvents. Wherever possible, we also use paper adhesive tape made from renewable raw materials that can be recycled together with the cardboard.

Every Tree Counts

In addition to our operational measures, we support the PLANT-MY-TREE® reforestation project. In 2023, we planted 500 trees.

PLANT-MY-TREE® has been carrying out reforestation projects throughout Germany since 2007. Regional conditions are taken into account and, where possible, mixed forests are planted. Project durations of at least 99 years are planned for the predominantly company-owned sites, during which no deforestation or commercial use is intended. PLANT-MY-TREE® was recertified by TÜV Rheinland according to DIN ISO 9001:2015 in early 2023.

Social Commitment

Within our company, we also implement specific measures for our employees. These include regular feedback meetings and salary reviews, support for apprentices and interns, training and development opportunities, occupational health and safety measures, flexible working hours and various employee benefits.

At PURE TEA, we also employ people from Lebenshilfe.

As a Bremen-based company, we feel a strong connection to the coast and maritime topics. We therefore support the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). For every tin and box sold of our tea blend “Rette mit, wer kann”, we donate €0.50 to the organisation. Over the years, this has resulted in donations totalling several thousand euros.
